2025 SpringBreathing With is an interactive installation that critically examines human–machine entanglement and the hidden human labor that underpins artificial intelligence systems. The project understands breath as both a fundamental and invisible act—one that also symbolizes entanglement, as every living being breathes. In this installation, participants blow air toward a device, activating a thermal printer that produces ambiguous dialogues generated by a large language model. These printed texts blur the boundaries between speaker and listener, human and machine. Who is speaking? Who is listening? Or is it a monologue? Perhaps it doesn’t matter. By using breath as both interface and metaphor, Breathing With invites reflection on the co-constitutive nature of human–machine relationships. It reimagines labor, intimacy, and interdependence in an era increasingly shaped by technological systems.
